Stanley Lawrence Wise, 93, of Union Bridge, MD passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD. Born December 13, 1924 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Antoni and Bertha Wawzyniak.
Stanley was a graduate of Morgan State University. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II aboard the USS Anne Arundel. He was employed as a Cost Accountant for Continental Can Company in Baltimore for 28 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown, where he served as a deacon for many years, the Knights of Columbus, and the Knights of St. George. Stanley enjoyed spending time with family, dancing and traveling the U.S. by train. His greatest passion in life was serving in the church and ministering to the sick.
Surviving are his three children, Michael Wise and wife Margie of Jarrettsville, Margaret Stryzak and husband Victor of Fallston, and Catherine Reeder and husband Ken of Owings Mills; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 sisters, Mary Wells, Dorothy Brown and Wanda Moore; and a brother, Bernard Wawzyniak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St., Taneytown, MD with Father John F. Lesnick and Msgr. Martin E. Feild as celebrants. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Taneytown.
