James Edward Harris, Sr., 79, of Westminster, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Friday, May 13th, 2022 at the Bridging Life Dove House in Westminster following an extended and courageous battle with cancer and kidney disease.
Jim was born Wednesday, August 26th, 1942, he was the son of the late Howard Lester Harris and Marie Harris, nee Peterson; beloved husband of 61 years to Frances Elaine Harris, nee Null; devoted father of James Harris, Jr., Michael Harris and his wife Connie, and Elaine Bostic; loving grandfather of Joshua Harris and Leanne Harris; cherished brother of Donald Harris, Betty Bishop, Lawrence Harris, Barbara Brown, Gloria Poff, Linda Mullins and Ronald Harris.
He was in the Navy for a brief period with an honorable medical discharge. He was the founder of Red Hill Lawn Service, Inc., Red Hill Farms, and JiMi Enterprises. He worked for his companies up until a few days before his passing. He was a skilled mechanic, welder, gun enthusiast, motorcyclist and debater. His most recent interests included beekeeping and growing plants in his greenhouse. The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Nasir, Dr. Kruter, Dr. Ali, and Dr. Tenali for their dedication during his medical journey, as well as the other medical personnel involved in his care. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, May 16th, 2022 and 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, May 17th, 2022 at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 91 Willis Street, Westminster (21157) where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jimmy Crocker officiating. Interment will follow at the St. John (Leister’s) Lutheran Church Cemetery in Westminster.

Kahlert Regional Cancer Center, 291 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157 or to Bridging Life Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
