Emily Hanna Murray, age 79 of Timonium, formerly of Westminster, died Wednesday March 30, 2011 at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson. She was born July 21, 1931 in Harrisburg, PA the daughter of the late John R. and Rebecca Sponsler Hanna. She was the devoted wife of Richard C. Murray, her husband of 55 years.
Emily attended Wooster College. She worked at home designing cross stitch patterns and painting with pastel water colors. Emily was a volunteer for the Carroll County Arts Council and served on the board and was past president. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and served as a deacon.
In addition to her husband she is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Mark Smith of Clinton, NY and son and daughter-in-law, John and Mary Murray of Sterling, VA; sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca “Bucky” and John Spicer of Frederick; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen (Murray) and James Waesche of Baltimore; sister-in-law, Sally Murray of Towson. She was proud of her grandchildren, Alex and Max Smith of Clinton, NY and Kara, Kylie and Kensey Murray all of Sterling, VA, as well as several nieces and a nephew.
She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Joseph H. Murray.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Towson,
MD.
