Elizabeth Catherine “Bea” Ibex, age 95 of Westminster, died Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Beverly Living Center in Westminster. She was born March 19, 1912 in Westminster the daughter of the late Joseph Milton and Dora Mae Gettier Groft. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Lee Ibex, Sr. who died in 1976. She worked at the Rexall’s Lunch Counter on Main Street in Westminster. She was a 50 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Westminster Fire Department. She was an avid bingo player, loved to crochet, and spoiled her great grandchildren and then sent them home.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard M. Sr. and Katie Ibex of Rock Hill, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Margaret and James Cotterell, Jr. of Hope Mills, NC; daughter-in-law, Inge Ibex of Allen TX; sister, Ruth Bowers of Lorrian at Mt. Airy; also 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by daughter, Jane Mae Devilbliss sons, Robert E. Lee Ibex, Jr. and A. Thomas Ibex; grandsons, Gary L. Groft and Robert Quinton Hart; siblings, Ethel G. Tawney, Larue Naylor, Betty Click and Charles Groft; half brothers, Merritt and Walter Groft; devoted friend, Verna Lyons Watson.
A funeral service will be held Thursday 11:00 AM at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
