Dorothea A. Petrohilos, age 88, of Frederick, Maryland, died on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Frederick Memorial Hopital.
Born September 18, 1922 in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late James and Anna (Plaskett) Hughes. She was predeceased by her husband, George Petrohilos in 1977.
Dorothea was of the Catholic Faith and was a homemaker for most of her life. In later years, she enjoyed working as a customer service representative and hostess at the Fredericktowne Mall. She loved traveling, crocheting, dancing, playing BINGO, and family vacations to the beach. Dorothea was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother and loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are children, Shelley Francella and husband Stephen of Thurmont, Noel Petrohilos and wife Norma of Laughlin, Nevada, James Petrohilos of Frederick, and Tina Young of Frederick; grandchildren, Matthew Francella and wife Amanda, Daniel Francella, Mary Maya and husband Robert, Nicholas, and Joseph Francella, Julian, Alexandra, Dylan, Joel, and Nathan Petrohilos, Kathlina and Chelsea Young; great-grandchildren, Emily and Abigail Maya; brother, Thomas Hughes of Queens, N.Y., and special friend, Jean Wright of Frederick.
She was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Dickerman; and brother, James Hughes.
Services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
