Anna Marie (Arnold) Devilbiss

June 29, 1928 — December 1, 2016

Anna Marie Devilbiss, 88, of Westminster, died Thursday afternoon, December 1, 2016 at Carroll Hospice Dove House

Born June 29, 1928 in Bird Hill, Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late E. Bayard and Anna Derr Arnold.  She is predeceased by her husband, Floyd W. Devilbiss in 2009.

Anna Marie was a 1945 graduate of Westminster High School and worked with her husband as the Office Manager and Bookkeeper for Devilbiss Trucking.  She then worked with her husband for Rills Bus Service as an Assistant on the Special Needs bus.  She also worked as an Associate with Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home.  She was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Uniontown, where she served as church treasurer for 22 years, taught Sunday School and was in the choir.  For 15 years she was the secretary of the Uniontown Lutheran Parish Council.   She was a very active member of St. Luke’s (Winters) Lutheran Church in New Windsor.  She was a member of Carroll County Farm Bureau, serving as chairperson of the Blood Drive from 1992 to 2015.  She was also a life-time member of Friends of the Village at CLV, receiving a 15 year certificate for volunteer service.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Emily L. and Robert Oliver of Monroe, LA; granddaughter, E. Lynn Talbert of Westminster; and brother and wife, Charles W. and Betty Arnold.  She was predeceased by her daughter, Hilda L. Devilbiss and siblings, John and James Arnold, Elsie Franklin and E. Frances Kipe.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 5, 2016 at St. Luke’s (Winters) Lutheran Church, New Windsor, with her pastor, Rev. Anne C. Durboraw, officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Uniontown.

The family will receive friends at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis Street, Westminster on Sunday from 2-4 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund, P.O.Box 447, New Windsor, MD   21776 or to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 291 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD  21157.
