William "Ed" Edward Peters

Taneytown

William Edward “Ed” Peters of Taneytown passed away on May 4, 2022. Born August 1, 1933, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late William Oliver Peters and Sarah Eleanor Ovelman Burker and stepson of the late Noah Burker.

Having served during the Korean War, he used his skills and worked in the Engineering Department at Westinghouse until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.

In his healthier days, he enjoyed spending time at auctions, hunting, fishing at the Potomac, sitting on the porch chatting with folks and watching his great grandchildren play basketball. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing stories about growing up with his grandparents, Quincy and Mary Ellen Ovelman, who raised him.

Ed is survived by his children: Michael and Kathy Peters of Keymar, Mary and Andy Garner of Taneytown, Douglas and JoAnn Peters of Union Bridge, Karen Curnutte and John Dunn of Westminster. He is the grandfather of Jordan, Theresa, Lisa, Harrison, Carly, Skyler and fiancé Maggie, and Shannon; and great grandfather of Malaki, Ellie, Armoni, Noah and Kaden. Ed is also survived by his brother Robert and Lois Peters of Taneytown. He was predeceased by Theodore Peters, Clara Shantz, Ruth Mason, Alice Paul and John Peters. He was formerly married to Marie Louise Peters who died on August 15, 1997.

Services are private at Ed’s request. Services are entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A. of Taneytown, MD.
