William "Bill" Welling, Jr.

William George “Bill” Welling, Jr., 88, of Westminster passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.  Born January 18, 1934, in Union Bridge, MD, he was the son of the late William Welling, Sr. and the late Donie (Grimes) Welling.  He was the devoted husband of Wilma (Arnold) Welling, to whom he was married for 60 years.

Bill was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of ’52.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served 2 terms of active duty.  He was a Tool and Die Maker with Black and Decker Manufacturing, retiring after 44 years of service. He grew up attending Grace Lutheran Church in Westminster, and later became a member of Deer Park United Methodist Church on Sykesville Rd.  Bill was also a member of Deep Run Rifle and Revolver Club, and was a life member the National Rifle Association.  He was instrumental in setting up the Woodshop at the Westminster Senior Center.

Surviving, in addition to his wife Wilma, are his daughter Susan Kelly, and granddaughters, Victoria and Marshall Kelly.  He was predeceased by his sister, Jane Welling Dickens, and an infant brother, Niles Francis Welling.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Deer Park United Methodist Church, 2205 Sykesville Rd., Westminster, MD 21157 with Pastor John Dean officiating.  Burial will follow in Deer Park Methodist Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be made to Deer Park United Methodist Cemetery Company, 2200 Sykesville Rd., Westminster, MD 21157, or to BridgingLife Hospice Dove House, 200 Memorial Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster.
