William “Bill” Peter Shandrowski, age 65, of Westminster, MD, died peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. Born October 29, 1948 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Paul William and Hilda (Whitmore) Shandrowski. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathleen Jessie (Riggin) Shandrowski.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from 1969-1970. Bill worked for Baltimore Gas & Electric Company for twenty-nine years in television repair and as a fiberoptic network technician before his retirement. Bill enthusiastically embraced life through his flower and vegetable gardening, fishing with his brother-in-law, Alvin Clatterbuck, his involvement with the Taneytown Senior Center, and vacationing in Tacoma WA with his granddaughters Lily and Jessie. Bill also reaped much enjoyment in life, through the many pets he loved over the years, through his passion for food and dining out with family, through his love of loud music, and especially through his love of riding motorcycles and ATV’s with is daughters and their friends and his nieces and nephews. Bill was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ in Taneytown.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Kathleen Jill Shandrowski of Baltimore, MD and Joy Shandrowski Coale of Tacoma, WA; son-in-law, Paul Warner Coale of Tacoma, WA; granddaughters, Lily and Jessie Coale; sister, Carolyn Brock of Crothersville, IN and twin sister, Peggy Wilson of Berkley Springs, W.VA; mother-in-law, Beverly Bradley of Owings Mills, MD; cousins, Harold and Irma Tritch of Hagerstown, MD; brother-in-law, Alvin Clatterbuck of Hampstead, MD; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by sisters, Paula Clatterbuck and Hilda Sajor.
The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore St. in Taneytown. A Memorial Service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 10 at the church.
