William Joseph Wright

William Joseph Wright, PhD., age 86 of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born April 27, 1927 in New York City, N.Y., he was the son of the late William G. and Viola (Hedden) Wright.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Anne (Devereux) Wright.
William was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy as a Medic.  He received his education at Pace University and his doctorate in business psychology at Cambridge International University.  He was a resident of Aberdeen, NJ before moving to Maryland in 2003.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he became a Grand Knight.  He was a dedicated NY Yankee fan and avid golfer.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Patricia Anne Smith and husband Brian of New Windsor, MD, Kevin Joseph Wright and wife Madeline of Middletown, NJ, and Karen Lynn Vivian and husband Stephen of Holmdel, NJ; daughter-in-law, Joyce Wright of Holmdel, NJ; grandchildren, William J. Wright, Patricia Anne Anderson and husband Nathan, Brian A. Smith and wife Katie, Christina Wright, Jacqueline Wright, Colin Wright, Amanda Wright, Connor J. Wright, Lynsey Vivian, and Alex Vivian; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Smith, Matthew Anderson, Brian J. Smith, Emily Anderson, Leah Smith, Laura Anderson, and Owen Anderson.
He was predeceased by a son, William G. Wright.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, September 20, 2013 at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster.  Interment with military honors will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus c/o:  St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, MD  21157.
