William Herbert “Bill” Rittase, 88, of New Oxford, PA, died peacefully Monday, June 15, 2015 at Hanover Hospital in Hanover, PA. Born March 13, 1927 in Taneytown, MD, he was the son of the late LaVerne and Carrie (Smith) Rittase. He was the husband of the late Mildred (Ingram) Rittase, who died in 2007.
Bill was Assistant Plant Manager at American Oil Company in Westminster where he was employed for almost 25 years. He provided custodial services for Westminster Trust Company (now PNC Bank) for 18 years. He was a life-long member of the Taneytown United Presbyterian Church, where he served as church treasurer for many years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #227, in Hanover, PA. Bill enjoyed hunting, traveling, antiquing, and spending time with family.
Surviving are brothers, Kenneth Rittase of York, PA, and Marlin Rittase and wife June of Glenville, PA; sisters-in-law, Doris Knox and husband Tom of Hanover, PA, and Georgia Miller of NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister-in-law, Billie Rittase, who was the wife of his brother Kenneth.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2015 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, with Pastor Lloyd Fuss officiating. Interment will follow at Grace U.C.C. Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
