It is with extreme sadness that we announce William Jefferys Lambert (Jeff), 60, beloved husband, father, and son went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2021. Everyone who knew Jeff, quickly realized that he was an extremely kind, loving, gentle and peaceful soul that loved his family dearly. Our Jeff was a bright spark in this world, a wonderful man who was loved and will be missed deeply by many for years to come.
Jeff was born the middle child of Bill & Barbara Lambert on April 24, 1961. According to his parents, he was a precocious child with endless curiosity, lots of energy and fascination for the natural world.
Jeff graduated from Perry Hall High School in 1979 where he studied hard, played football, and ran track. Although he would never admit it because of his humbleness, Jeff was exceptionally intelligent. He received a full Congressional scholarship to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Due to persistent migraine headaches, Jeff was unable to pursue his deep passion for flying and, consequently, chose to leave the military. However, he never lost his deep love of our great country and always remained a true patriot.
After leaving the Academy, Jeff pursued a bachelor’s degree in computer programming at UMBC and graduated in 2002. For over 21 years, he worked for Johns Hopkins Hospital where he utilized his programming skills to develop and maintain complex accreditation data for the professional staff. Here he made many of his life-long best friends.
Jeff’s main passions in life were his faith in God and his love of family. He was a very devout traditional Catholic whose love for God was beyond measure. As his favorite Saint Padre Pio once said, “Faith is the light which shines at the highest peak of every soul acceptable to our Father”. Jeff’s faith light shined brightly through his endless pursuit to learn and understand his faith and to share his knowledge through the teaching of the catechism to children at church, family, and friends.
Jeff had a deep love of trains which developed as a child in talking with his grandfather, Ilario Lambert, who worked for the B&O Railroad for 53 years. As a result, he became an avid model railroader, which highlighted the artistic abilities inherited from his mom, Barbara. His creativity and originality clearly came through in all his projects, from getting a train running to replicating a local town or building.
Jeff also had a deep love of Civil War history. His middle name was chosen for William G Jeffreys, his great grand uncle who died during the Battle of Gettysburg. This inspired Jeff to trace the footsteps of his ancestors, to volunteer in many living-history events as a Civil War Reenactor, and to participate in the Annual Gettysburg Remembrance Day Parade to honor his forefathers.
Jeff is survived by his parents William Harold (Bill) and Barbara Anne (Winters) Lambert; Jeff’s sister, Valerie Prenger and her husband Rob; nephew Tim of Phoenix, Maryland; and Jeff's brother Mark and his wife Linda of Bel Air, Maryland. They shared many beautiful family memories over the years, especially 55 traditional Christmas Eve dinners.
Jeff was also a loving and dedicated father to his two beautiful children, Clayton Grant, 25, of Williamsport, Maryland and Anna Lilly, 24, of Lexington, Kentucky. They were the center beam of his life, and he gave everything a father could give, including teaching them his love of faith, music, trains, and wildlife.
Jeff was a dedicated husband to his wife Pat with whom he shared 10 beautiful married years together. They both agreed that their lives together were the best of their earthly days. Their favorite times together were spent on the family farm gardening and watching birds, deer, and other wildlife. They also enjoyed traveling to the mountains with Coco, Silas, Hilda, and Malcolm the beloved farm dogs.
Other loved ones that will miss Jeff greatly until they meet again are his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chuck and Lorry Trice and his mother-in-law Pat Ourednik.
A Funeral Mass will be held for family and close friends on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Saint Anthony's Shrine, 16150 St. Anthony Road #5, Emmitsburg, MD 21727, beginning at 11 a.m. Additionally, a celebration of life will be held on April 23, 2022, at 2:00 pm on the family farm in Emmitsburg, Maryland. All who knew and loved Jeff are welcome to come and celebrate his life. More information will be forthcoming on both events.
Jeff wholeheartedly supported the traditional Catholic faith and, as such, was a supporter of the local Discalced Carmelites Nuns. In lieu of flowers, Jeff would have greatly appreciated your support to this local organization, which is in the process of building a monastery. Donations can be made via check to:
