William John Fortin, Jr., 93, of Nokomis, Florida, died Thursday morning, January 14, 2016 at Transitions Healthcare in Sykesville. Born September 28, 1922 in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, he was the son of the late William J. Fortin, Sr. and Regina Hood Fortin. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy S. Holland Fortin.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. His career spanned 40+ years with C&P Telephone Company of Maryland, from which he retired as District Manager.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, William J. Fortin III and wife, Judy, of Westminster, Christine Schmitt of New Windsor, Mark Fortin and wife, Terry, of Mt. Airy and Elizabeth Malane of Mt. Airy; sister, Jean Wieman of Catonsville; grandchildren, William J. Fortin IV, Rogina Curry and husband, James, Carrie Torres and husband, Ricardo, Sandy Reiner and husband Michael, Stacey Weeks and husband, Robert, Charlene Chabino and husband, Curtis, Charles Schmitt III, Stephanie Bennett and husband, Dwayne, Sarah Floyd and husband, Sean, Daniel Fortin, and Logan and Cassie Malane; great-grandchildren, Julian, David, Michael, Steven, Samson, Sydney, Nate and Alyssa. He was also predeceased by a son, Steven Fortin, and sons-in-law, Charles Schmitt, Jr and Mark Malane.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 30th, at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis Street, Westminster, with Pastor David L. Meador officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Baltimore National Cemetery. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
