Wilbur “Whitey” Zachariah Fair, Jr. age 71, of Littlestown, PA, died on Friday, January 9, 2015 at his home.
Born August 10, 1943 near Taneytown, Maryland, he was the youngest son of eleven children of the late Wilbur Z. Fair, Sr. and Inez LaRue (Angell) Fair.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked for over twenty years in the maintenance department at Ft. Detrick in Frederick. He then worked for Harrington & Sons Co. in Emmitsburg and recently retired. He was a member of Harney V.F.W. Post 6918, Taneytown American Legion Post 120, and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed small engine and lawn equipment repair and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are son, Will Z. Fair, III and wife Tina of Littlestown, PA, grandchildren, Zachariah T. Fair and Brenna M. Fair; sisters, Janet Smith of Littlestown, PA, Margaret Wetzel, Wilma Liller, and Wanda Lawrence all of Taneytown, MD; brother, Wayne “Reds” Fair of FL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings, June Bachota, Cecelia Lambert, Doris Young, Lois Shorb, and Harold “Booty” Fair, Sr.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD, with the Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
