Walter Eugene Kumpar, 84, of Littlestown, died Sunday, May 1, 2022 at PMC Harrisburg, PA. He was the son of the late Michael & Josephine (Zubel) Kumpar, Walter was born January 27, 1938, raised in Windsor Heights, WV, graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1956, attended engineering school in Northridge, CA, and settled his family in Randallstown, MD. Walter worked at Westinghouse and then retired from Northrop Grumman.
Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Colleen, his sister Lois Hendricks of Wyoming, and his brother Milan Kumpar of West Virginia. He is survived by his four children and their families: Matt Kumpar & Julie; Maria Miller & Rob; Michael Kumpar & Pamela, and Paul Kumpar & Lisa, all of Westminster; his grandchildren: Ashley Marts and her husband Owen, Aaron Miller, Adam Miller and his wife Audrey; Paul Allen & Ryan Kumpar, and Elliana, Gracie & Benjamin Kumpar; great-grandchildren Ethan, Alex, Everly, and Ensley Marts; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Walter was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Littlestown. He spent many years coaching football and baseball, loved fishing and hunting, and is the quintessential family man known for his big smile, loud laugh, and will be missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD 21787 at 1:00PM on Friday, May 13, 2022. Doors will open at 12:00 noon for visitation. A reception will follow the service at the Kumpar home.
