Virginia “Ginny” L. Bruce, age 84, of Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster died peacefully Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center. Born February 20, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late H. Edward and Anna Marie (Jacobi) Dailey. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Dwight Bruce on February 29, 2000.
Ginny was a former member of First Lutheran Church in Ellicott City and currently was a member of St. Luke’s (Winters) Lutheran Church in New Windsor. She was retired after 38 years with the American Urological Association in Baltimore as an event and meeting planner.
Surviving Ginny are a cousin Emily Hattery and husband Rev. John “Hatch” Hattery of Westminster, nephew, John Hattery of Sykesville; sister, Carolyn Brydan of Timonium, and several nieces, nephews, and devoted friends.
She was predeceased by siblings, Charles and Luther Dailey, Catherine Tilley.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of a memorial service to celebrate Ginny’s life at 10 a.m., on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Krug Chapel at Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, MD with the Rev. Anne C. Durboraw and the Rev. Jimmie L. Schwartz co-officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville.
