Virginia Caroline Jones Sparrow, age 97, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Sunflower Hill Assisted Living in Westminster.
Born January 7, 1916 in Carroll County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Frances (Reese) Jones. Twice married, she was predeceased by husbands Galen F. Myers and Colie J. Sparrow.
Mrs. Virginia worked as a seamstress with Grief Sewing Factory in Westminster. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Westminster and the Westminster Moose Lodge. She especially enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, travelling through Europe and the Mediterranean, baking, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving her are daughter, Joyce E. Stretton and friend Fred Maier of Westminster; grandsons, Bruce T. Stretton and wife Larissa of MA, Allen P. Stretton and wife Patty of CO; great-granddaughter, Shelby Stretton. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters, Ray Leoni Jones, Evelyn Jones, Agnes Lovell, Harriett Gore; brothers, Herman, Thomas, Edwin, and Curtis Jones.
A graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 27, 2013 in the Chapel of Evergreen Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 2800 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg. There will be no public visitation.
