Virginia “Ginny” Marie Phillips, age 89, went home to be with the Lord in the presence of family on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at her home.
Born June 22, 1926 in Metuchen, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Florence (VanDeursen) Peney. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Ish Phillips who died on October 9, 2014.
Ginny was a member of Grace Fellowship Chapel in Westminster and enjoyed attending the Community Bible Study in Westminster. Her interests were painting, and spending time with friends and family. Ginny had a wonderful relationship with her four brothers. Both in New Jersey and Maryland, she enjoyed her work with Hospice from which she benefited from during her last days.
She is survived by children, Bruce, and his wife, Brenda, of Suffolk, VA; Glenn and his wife, Pat, of Durham, NC; daughter in law Maureen Phillips of Wilmington N.C., Penny, and her husband, Bob Lynch, of Westminster, MD; Ginny’s grandchildren, Julie and Jason Nelson, Brandon Nelson, Kerri and Cale Phillips, Veronica and Jason Lloyd, Virginia Phillips, Victoria Phillips, Kaity and Mike McCrary, Hayley Phillips, Megan Lynch, Trevor Lynch and six great grandchildren, Riley, Tate, Wyatt, Caroline, Emma, and Cody; brothers, Robert Peney of Venice, FL, Roger Peney of Philipsburg, NJ, and Joel Peney of Blairsville, GA; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Kirk and brother Howard.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Pastor Ralf Nies officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until the time of the service on Saturday.
