Virginia Olive Knox, 92, of Taneytown, Maryland died peacefully on Friday, October 16, 2015 at her home. Born October 3, 1923 in Thurmont, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Ruth Recher Kelly. She was the wife of the late Ralph Knox, Sr., to whom she was married for 59 years. He died in 2000.
Virginia was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown. She loved family picnics and gatherings. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.
She is survived by children, Bernard Knox and wife Dorothy; Pat Baughman and husband Curtis; and Ruth Smith and husband Darrell all of Taneytown, MD; Charles Knox and wife Debbie of Riverview, FL; Jean Morrison of Secretary, MD; and Rick Knox and wife Robin of Scottsville, NY; daughter-in-law, Dawn Knox of FL; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons, David and John Knox, and Ralph Knox, Jr.; sisters, Corrine Overholtzer and Gladys Topper; brothers, Wilbur and James Kelly; and son-in-law, George Morrison.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St., Taneytown, MD with Father John F. Lesnick as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, with the rosary shared at 7:30 p.m.
