Virginia Agnes Hammond, age 84, of Taneytown, Maryland, died suddenly on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland following an accident.
Born April 12, 1926 in Parsons, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late Leland and Gladys (Croshun) Burkey. She was predeceased by her husband Paul Hammond in 1996.
Virginia was of the Methodist faith and loved attending church and listening to old time gospel music. She loved spending time with her familiy and friends.
Surviving her are sons, Bob Clingerman and wife Elaine of Fallston, Maryland, Ronald C. Hammond, Sr. and wife Christine of Taneytown, Maryland; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Ray Harris.
She was predeceased by daughters, Linda Harris and Connie Dingus.
Funeral services will be held from the Tomblyn Funeral Home, 45 Randolph Avenue, Elkins, West Virginia with the Rev. Randy Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Elkins, West Virginia. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 6-8 PM at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, Maryland.
