Virgie Pearl Hoffman, 86, of Taneytown died peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taneytown. Born December 5, 1929 in Hampden, MD, she was the daughter of the late Park and Dorothy Kilman Egbert. She was the wife of the late Roland H. Hoffman, whom she married in 1985.
Virgie was a secretary and receptionist for the Taney Corporation in Taneytown for many years. She attended the Linwood Brethren Church and formerly attended and was active in Messiah United Methodist Church in Taneytown. She was also an active member of the Taneytown Senior Center for many years.
She is survived by daughter, Dawn Price and husband Marty of Gettysburg, PA; grandson, Frank Kenneth Price III; granddaughter, Kathleen Anastasia Price Mosley; uncle, Melvin Ellwood Egbert of Palestine, WV; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sister, Hilda Gilbert.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Linwood Brethren Church, 575 McKinstrys Mill Rd., Union Bridge, MD with Pastor Dan Ceary officiating. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD, 21157, or to the Taneytown Senior Center, 220 Roberts Mill Rd., Taneytown, MD, 21787.
