Victor "Vic" Welty

October 26, 1944 — May 16, 2015

Victor Monroe “Vic” Welty, 70, of Westminster died unexpectedly Saturday, May 16, 2015 at his home.  Born October 26, 1944 in Middleburg, Maryland, he was the son of the late Howard and Olive Simpson Welty.

Vic was a Logistics/Senior Planner for Textron (AAI, Inc.) in Cockeysville, Maryland prior to his retirement.  He was a Viet Nam veteran, serving in the United States Army.  He enjoyed going to the beach in New Smyrna, Florida, playing the horses, and attending car shows in his Dodge Challenger. Vic was also an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and NASCAR. He loved Maryland Terrapins sports, Crimson Tide football, March Madness, and the Baltimore Ravens.  Most of all, Vic loved taking care of his daughter Sherry and his granddaughters, Tori and Gabrielle.

He is survived by daughter, Sherry O’Neill and husband Joe of Westminster; grandchildren, Steven, Victoria, and Gabrielle O’Neill; great- granddaughter, Taytum O’Neill; and many nieces, nephews, cousins,, and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Vic’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with the Rev. Steven Ostendorf officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Keysville Union Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
