Troy Mitchell Thacker, Jr.

Troy Mitchell Thacker, Jr., affectionately known as “JR”, 36, of Westminster passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 17, 2024. Born July 6, 1988, he was the son of Troy Mitchell Thacker and Barbara Jean Thacker, nee Crabb, beloved husband of Stephanie Nicole Thacker, nee Rodrigues, soon to be loving father of Rylee Thacker, his daughter who is due to be born in March of 2025; devoted brother of Jeannie Marie Thacker; cherished uncle of Tyler, Liam, and Lydia; nephew of Arthur and Chuckie Crabb; son-in-law of Jose and Nelia Rodrigues; brother-in-law of Steve Rodrigues and his wife Victoria Rubenstein; and his faithful dogs Luna and Reese.

When not working for the United States Government at the National Institute of Science and Technology, he was one hell of a cook and enjoyed bringing his creation in the kitchen to life. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, car enthusiast, and loved his Marvel movies and comics. He would spend some of his free time in the gym working out or target shooting. After graduating in 2006 from Winter’s Mill High School, he took his love of computer coding, which he learned from his father, and obtained many certifications from the community college and turned this love into his life’s work. He will be fondly and lovingly remembered by his good nature and was loved by everyone who knew him.

The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2024 and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 91 Willis Street, Westminster, (21157) where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jimmy Crocker officiating. Interment will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Mt. Airy.
