Thomas Daniel Shorb, age 85, of Fairfield, PA, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born September 8, 1924 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late Daniel Thomas and Ethel (Overholtzer) Shorb. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathleen (White) Shorb.
Thomas was a farmer and automobile mechanic for most of his life. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic in Emmitsburg, and a long time member of the Greenmount Volunteer Fire Company in Greenmount, PA.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter Linda (Shorb) Stultz and husband Jim of Fairfield, PA, and son Gary T. Shorb Sr. and wife Lydia of Gettysburg, PA.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 28, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 47 DePaul St., Emmitsburg with the Rev. Vincent J. O’Malley, C.M. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 West Main St., Emmitsburg, MD, where rosary prayers will begin at 8 p.m.
