Thomas Joseph Jenkins

June 29, 1942 — March 7, 2015

Thomas Joseph Jenkins, age 72, of Thurmont, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.  Born June 29, 1942 in Pomonkey, Charles County, Maryland, he was the son of the late Thomas Ashton and Margaret Rebecca (Groves) Jenkins.  He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 5 years, Sharon Ann (Kennedy) Jenkins.

Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  He was retired in 1999 after 33 years as a computer technician with GTE.  He was very proud to be an advisor with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Department for many years.  He was a member of St. Luke’s (Winters) Lutheran Church in New Windsor, AMVETS Post 7 in Thurmont, American Legion Post 282 in Woodsboro.  He was a life-long member of the NRA and the Monocacy Pistol Club.  Tom was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and trap shooting.  He enjoyed vegetable gardening, eating seafood, his pet dog “Danny”, and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Elizabeth Garris of Abingdon and Catherine Jenkins-Sanders and husband Craig of Thurmont; step-sons, Stephen Boilon, Jr. of New Windsor and Kevin T. Boilon of Baltimore; grandchildren, Joseph, Rebecca, Ashton “Mitch”, and Michael Jenkins, Sarah Garris, and Caroline Sanders; sister, Margaret “Peggy” Larman and husband Dennis of Woodbridge, Va.; and niece, Janet Genari of Linden, Va.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at St. Luke’s (Winters) Lutheran Church, 701 Green Valley Rd. (Rt. 75) New Windsor with Rev. Anne C. Durboraw officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in St. Luke’s (Winters) Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St, Emmitsburg, MD, and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
