Theodore “Ted” F. Gerwig, age 75, of Finksburg, Maryland, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born August 4, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Mary Margaret (Richardson) Gerwig. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Ellen (Dean) Gerwig.
Ted was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during peace time on the USS Intrepid. He worked as a computer technician with IBM and the Maryland State Police. He was a member of the VFW, and enjoyed farming.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Brenda Cook and husband Norman of Manchester, and Linda Moorefield and companion Melvin Crowther of Hanover, PA; grandsons, Ben and Alex Cook, and Joshua Moorefield; brother, Charles H. Gerwig, Jr. of Summerland Key, FL; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Don Crigger of Defiance, Ohio, and Loretta Dean of Corbin, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 8 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with Rev. Stacy Marsh officiating. Burial will be private.
