Thelma H. Turner, 93, of York, PA, and formerly of Westminster, MD, died peacefully Friday, July 31, 2015 at Hospice & Community Care in Mt. Joy, PA. Born April 6, 1922 in Carroll County near Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Maraud Greenholtz Horning. She was the wife of David Edwin Turner, to whom she was married for 52 years. They were wed December 1, 1963.
Thelma was a graduate of New Windsor High School, class of 1940. She worked as a bank teller for several Westminster area banks during her younger years, and was employed in banking for 32 years. She was a member of the former First Church of God in Uniontown, and attended Clearfield Bible Church before relocating to York, PA in 1994. Thelma enjoyed spending time with her husband, and helping people she encountered along life’s way.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sisters, Naomi Welk and Ruby Hersberger of Westminster, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Lester, Gerald, and Lloyd Horning, and sister, Mildred Horning.
A private graveside service at the Methodist Cemetery in Uniontown will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown, MD.
