Thelma Marie Michael, age 82, of Emmitsburg, Maryland died on Monday morning, December 15, 2008 at her home following an extended illness.
Born March 1, 1926 in Stanley, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Scott D. and Irene M. (Jenkins) Harris. She was the wife of the late Harvey Edward Michael who predeceased her on August 11, 2000.
She was employed as a clerk for 34 years by the Daughter’s of Charity Religious Community at St. Joseph’s Provincial House in Emmitsburg, Maryland. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Shrine Parish in Emmitsburg. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters, Doris M. Cornett of Hagerstown, MD, Connie L. Furhman and husband Ronald of Hanover, PA, and Barbara J. Little of Emmitsburg; siblings, James Harris of Rocky Ridge, MD, Wilson Harris of Nanticoke, MD, Glen Harris of Frederick, MD, Wanda May of Timberville, VA, and Martha Cooley of Frederick, MD. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by siblings, Homer and Kent Harris, Florabell Nusbaum, and Iva Mae Koontz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Shrine Catholic Church, 16150 St. Anthony Rd., Emmitsburg. Interment will follow in the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Emmitsburg. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, where a Christian Wake service will be held at 8:00 PM.
