Thelma Marceal (Snyder) McElwain, age 84, of Finksburg, Maryland, died on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Golden Living Center of Westminster.
Born March 12, 1924 in Ringgold, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Alvie Byron and Leota (Colman) Snyder. She was married to Edward W. McElwain, Sr. on July 1, 1944. He pre-deceased her on April 2, 1966.
She was an LPN retired from the Carroll Hospital Center and Springfield State Hospital. She attended Grace Lutheran Church in Westminster, and the Westminster Sr. Center, where she enjoyed meals and playing BINGO. Following her retirement she found enjoyment in volunteering with Springfield history museum in Sykesville.
Surviving are a daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Hahn of Finksburg; a sister, Beverly Alcorn of Brockway, PA; grandsons, Robert H. Hahn, Jr. of Westminster, and James W. Hahn of Spring Grove, PA; great-grandchildren, Lindsay Marie Hahn, Nicholas James Faina-Hahn, and Kaitlyn Marie Goldstein; son-in-law, Robert H. Hahn, Sr., of Westminster.
She was preceded in death by a son, Edward W. McElwain, Jr.
There will be no public visitation. Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Kittanning, Pennsylvania.
