Suellen Valentine Barbe, 68, of Hanover, PA died peacefully on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA. Born March 5, 1947 in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Valentine and Jesse Lee (McBee) Knipple. She was the beloved wife of Harold “Bunk” Barbe.
Suellen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. She faithfully attended her granddaughter Jessica’s sporting events, and enjoyed caring for her “pet ducks” at the campground in Gettysburg. She loved retired life and wintering in Florida.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughter, Teri Sillyman and husband John of Hanover, PA; granddaughter, Jessica Sillyman; brothers, Lee Knipple of Ashland, OH, and Clyde Knipple and wife Terri of Las Vegas, NV; sisters-in-law, Susan Long of Hagerstown, and Mary Topper and husband Larry of Bowling Green, VA; special niece, Chris Collins and husband Jimmy of Hagerstown; and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Forrest Knipple, and sister-in-law, Nancy Knipple.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD with Funeral Celebrant John Morrill officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
