Sterling Leon Fritz

Sterling Leon Fritz, 82, of Taneytown, died November 26, 2024 at BridgingLife Hospice in Westminster MD. Born February 18, 1942 in Gettysburg PA, he was the son of the late Sterling Wilson Fritz and Mary Katherine Fritz. Leon was the devoted husband of Joan Fritz for 61 years.

Leon served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965 as an MP. He owned Fritz’s TV & Sporting Goods for over 20 years in Taneytown, and impacted and helped many young people, going out of his way to help his customers whenever called upon. He enjoyed hunting & fishing, shooting pool, and was an accomplished bowler.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Joan, is son, Brian Fritz of Taneytown; granddaughters, Misty Long (Jeremy) of Fairfield, PA, and Brandy Milstred (Eric) of Taneytown; and great-grandchildren, Savanah Linthicum, Jase Long, Payton Long, Cayden Friese, and Brycen Milstred.

A funeral to celebrate Leon’s life will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2024, 11:00am, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 136 E Baltimore St., MD 21787, with Pastor Edie Horton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 3:00PM, and 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the funeral home.
