Sterling Wilson Fritz, 96, of Taneytown, Maryland died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. Born December 8, 1915 in Uniontown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Phaylan and Anna Shuey Fritz. He was the husband of the late Mary Katherine Myerly Fritz who died in 1991.
Sterling founded Fritz’ Radio and TV Sales & Service in Taneytown in 1957 and remained active in the business until 2 years ago. He was a spiritual man and life-long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown. He enjoyed bowling and bowled in the Professional Duckpin League in Baltimore for several years. He was a member of the Professional Duckpin Bowlers Association. Sterling was a life-member of the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan.
Surviving are son, Leon Fritz and wife, Joan of Taneytown; brothers, Melvin Fritz and wife, Dot, of Taneytown, and Earl Fritz and wife, Lib, of Union Bridge; grandson, Brian Fritz of Taneytown; great-granddaughters, Brandy & Misty Fritz, both of Taneytown; and great-great grandchildren, Caydan Friese and Savanah Linthicum. He was predeceased by sisters, Catherine Feeser, and Pauline “Polly” Boone, and brother, Preston Fritz.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with Pastor Josh Semovoski of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m.
