Stephanie “Stevie” R. Richards, age 97 of Hampstead, died Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson. She was born June 28, 1914 in Buffalo, New York, daughter of the late Stanley and Florence Majewski Liskiewicz. She was the wife of the late Bernard “Ben” Richards, her husband of 75 years who died in March 2009.
She lived for 9 happy years at Golden Crest in Hampstead and was transferred to and died at Gilchrist Hospice. She worked for General Motors. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster and a former member of Queen of Martyrs Church in Cheektowaga, N.Y. She devoted many years volunteering for CYO in Buffalo, N.Y. and also many years at St. Joseph Hospital in Cheektowaga, N.Y.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Dan Rafferty of Finksburg and son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Ellen Richards of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Edmund Liskiewicz of Cheektowaga, N.Y.; grandchildren, Mike Rafferty and wife Brenda of Swanton, MD, Steve Rafferty and wife Monica of Hampstead, and Kathy Kelly and husband Mike of Mt. Airy; also survived by great-grandchildren, Morgan, McKenzy, Jessica, and Tyler Rafferty, Ryan, Nick, and Megan Kelly; sister-in-laws, Mildred Domzalski of Buffalo, N.Y., and Dorothy Mucha and husband Joe of Michigan.
She was pre-deceased by 6 brothers and 1 sister.
A Memorial Mass celebrating her life will be held Friday, November 4, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster with Msgr. Francis Weldgen from Buffalo, N.Y. as celebrant.
Inurnment will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery.
