Shirley A. Tough, age 76, of Sabillasville, Maryland, died on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born May 10, 1938 in Auburn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late James M. Dougherty and Agnes (Tully) Nixon. She was predeceased by her husband, George Howard Tough in 2008.
Shirley enjoyed genealogy, internet sleuthing, crochet, dancing, watching stock car races, and karaoke. She recently enjoyed volunteering at a religious bookstore.
Surviving are daughters, Jennifer “Jenny” Azadi of Monkton, Md., Catherine “Cathie” Naugle of Waynesboro, Pa.; siblings, Leo Dougherty of Tampa, Fl., Phillip Dougherty of N.Y., Clancey Nixon of N.Y., Richard Nixon of N.Y., Sandy Rozelle of Ijamsville, Md., and Thomas Dougherty of Brunswick, Md.; grandchildren, Steven Adams, Candice Deaton, Valerie Azadi, Christian Tough, Stephanie Mendez, Lazarus Naugle, Jackie Orndorff, and Lindsay Naugle; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Adams, Melody Adams, and Scarlett Detrick.
She was predeceased by a brother, James Dougherty.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD. Burial will take place at a later date in Parklawn Cemetery in Rockville, Md.
