Shirley Mae Leisner, 54, resident of Finksburg, Maryland, died peacefully on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family following a battle with cancer.
Born on October 16, 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Edward Frank and Ruth Cynthia (Goss) Leisner.
She was an avid animal rights and rescue advocate. She volunteered with the Carroll County 4-H rabbit and cavey club for many years. She worked at the MD State Fairgrounds, Sagamore Farms, and My Time Stables as a horse trainer/owner. She was a published author and photographer on “How to raise show rabbits”.
Surviving are her daughters, Jessica Lynn DeLuca-Fansler and spouse Amanda Fansler-DeLuca of Marysville, PA, Katlyn Mae Leduc and spouse Matthew of Finksburg; sisters, Debbie Leisner of Finksburg, Kathy Pratt of Hampstead, Jeanie Leisner of Westminster, and Ruth Leisner of North East, MD; brother, Edward Leisner II of Westminster; former spouse, Thomas W. DeLuca of White Marsh; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Donna Leisner.
There will be no public services or visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster.
