Shirley Arlene Hoff, 86, of Westminster, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Carroll Lutheran Village healthcare center.
Born July 12, 1934 in New Windsor, MD, she was the daughter of the late Samuel David “Dave” Hoff and Mariam (Kroh) Hoff.
Shirley was a graduate of New Windsor High School class of 1952. She went on to get her B.S. in Math in 1960 and Masters in Ed., in Math and Science in 1964 from Western MD College in Westminster. Her teaching career of middle school children began in Baltimore County and later in Carroll County. In her younger years Shirley was active in the 4-H and was a 4-H All-Star. She was an active member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Westminster, where she served on many church committees, as well as sang for over 50 years on the choir. Shirley was very devoted to her church and faithful to her God. She sang in the Masterworks Choral, was a member of the Women’s Republican Club, Homemaker’s Club, McDaniel College Alumni, and participated in events at the Westminster Senior Center.
Surviving are brother, Samuel C. Hoff and wife Georgia of Finksburg; sister-in-law’s, Arlene B. Hoff of Uniontown and Kathy R. Hoff of New Windsor; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Malcolm “Bud” D. Hoff and Marlin K. Hoff.
Due to the pandemic, private visitation and funeral services will be held for the immediate family only. Private burial will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery near Linwood. A public celebration of Shirley’s life will be planned and announced at a later date at Grace Lutheran Church in Westminster. Arrangements have been entrusted to the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Westminster.
