Shirley Marie Hayes, age 85 of Finksburg, died Tuesday October 16, 2012 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. She was born January 15, 1927 in Graceham, MD, daughter of the late Lloyd and Marie Avig Zimmerman. She was the wife of Arnie Hayes, her husband of 64 years.
She was retired from the Carroll County Board of Education as a school principal at Charles Carroll Elementary School in Silver Run.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Stephen Hayes and wife, Dolly of Gayles Ferry, Connecticut, Suzanne Edelman and husband, Mitchell of Finksburg, Kathleen White and husband, Stephen of Fountain Hills, Arizona, Kevin Hayes and wife, Pamela of Westminster and Christine Crawford and husband, Darrell of Finksburg; grandchildren, Daniel White, Aaron Hayes, Heather White, Nancy Hayes, Abigail Dunn, Timothy Hayes, Alex Crawford and Bryan Crawford; great-grandchild, Connor Hayes.
Per her wishes she will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held 4:00 pm Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends 3:00 pm until time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
