Sharon Marie Koester, 81, of Taneytown, MD, died Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. Born August 19, 1939 in Sayre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Marguerite (Munkittrick) Rockefeller. She was the wife of the late Paul J. Koester, her husband of 55 years. He passed in March of 2019.
Sharon was an analyst with the Social Security Administration. She was a member of Tom’s Creek United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and watching the Hallmark Channel. She was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens. Sharon was a pet-lover and enjoyed providing a home for many dogs and cats over the years.
Surviving are her three children, Christopher Koester and wife Nicole of Glen Burnie, MD, Barbara Ross and husband Tim of Federalsburg, MD, and Ellen Blair and husband Robert of Spring Grove, PA; sisters, Lorraine Thomas and husband Gary of Centreville, MD, and Sandra Ross and husband Jim of Owego, NY; grandchildren, Ryan, Nathaniel “Nate”, Maggie, and Robby; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Tom’s Creek Promised Land, 10918 Taneytown Pike, Emmitsburg, MD, with Pastor Heath Wilson presiding. Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Taneytown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sharon’s name may be made to the Humane Society of Carroll County, 2517 Littlestown Pike, Westminster, MD, 21158.
