Sharon Louise (Ryder) Allis

Sharon Louise Allis, Age 61, of Emmitsburg, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Born October 17, 1961 in Gettysburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Gerald F. and Merlene (Rightnour) Ryder,

Sharon graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Emmitsburg, MD. She also attended classes at Frederick Community College.

Sharon worked at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg for 43 years as a Student Services Coordinator and Switchboard Operator. She also worked several seasons at Ski Liberty in Fairfield, PA

Sharon enjoyed camping, canoeing and spending time with family and her many friends. Over the years she loved camping at Savage River MD and trips to Ocean City MD.

Surviving are sons, Benjamin Allis of Emmitsburg and Kevin Allis of NC; her girlfriend Becky Aulthouse of Taneytown; brothers, David Ryder and wife Valerie of Littlestown, PA, Michael, Stephen, Dennis, and James Ryder, all of Emmitsburg; and several nieces and nephews,

Services are private at Sharon’s request. Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A., in Emmitsburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sharon’s memory to the American Cancer Society or the Gift of Life Donor Program.
