Sandra Ann Smith, 77, of Taneytown, MD, passed away on October 23, 2024. Born on December 29, 1946, Sandy was known for her warm and caring nature, deeply cherished by her family and friends.Sandy was the loving wife of James Smith, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to Susan Miller and Thomas Smith, and a proud mother-in-law to Mark Miller and Amy Smith. Sandy is also survived by her brother, James Ihm. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ann Ihm.
Professionally, Sandy was a respected business owner, having co-owned and operated Spanky's restaurant in Sykesville. She also enjoyed her time at Hutchinson's Florist in Eldersburg, MD, bringing joy and beauty to many through her floral arrangements.
An accomplished crafter and artist, Sandy had a particular passion for creating detailed wood carvings of birds, a reflection of her love for these creatures. Her home was filled with the sounds and sights of her beloved pets, including an African Grey parrot, lovebirds, and cats. An avid fisherwoman, Sandy cherished the times spent on her son's boat catching flounder in Ocean City, MD.
Sandy's presence will be profoundly missed, yet her warmth and kindness will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her family takes comfort in the memories of her loving spirit and the joy she brought into their lives.
Visitation with the family is set for Monday, November 4, 2024 from 6-8 pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home located at 136 East Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD.
