Ruthanna Kiser, age 97, of Taneytown, Maryland, died on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Carroll Lutheran Village Healthcare Center in Westminster.
Born September 27, 1912 in Taneytown, she was the daughter of the late Emory E. and Florence Ann (Zile) Flickinger. She was predeceased by her husband, George Thomas Kiser in 1994.
Ruthanna was a resident of the Carroll Lutheran Village Healthcare Center in Westminster for several years, and a lifetime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Taneytown Vol. Fire Department. She was employed as a seamstress at H.L. Borenstein & Sons in Taneytown for many years.
Surviving are a daughter, Peggy Myers and husband John of Westminster; grandchildren Julie Lohman and husband Mark of Richmond, VA, Kevin Myers and wife Stacey of Arlington, VA; great-grandchildren, Dylan Johnson and Nathan Myers; step-great-grandchildren, Chloe Lohman and Elliot Lohman; niece, Patricia Hynds of Columbia, S.C.
She was predeceased by a brother, Elden Flickinger.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, with Pastors Josh and Rachel Semovoski co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Taneytown. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Carroll Lutheran Village Resident Assistance Fund, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, MD 21158 or to Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, c/o: Richard Hahn, 3730 Harney Rd., Taneytown, MD 21787.
