Ruth Eva Sofinowski, age 97, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2014, following a short stay at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.
She was born on December 22, 1916 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Frank and Katie Brodowski Sofinowski. She was predeceased by her husband, Jacob Sofinowski.
Ruth was a member of Christ the King Missouri Synod Lutheran Church in Owings Mills and served on the Ladies Guild.
Surviving are children, Jacob Sofinowski III and wife Joan of Havre de Grace, Ruth Copenhaver of New Windsor, Alan Sofinowski of Hampstead, Patricia Pennington and husband Stanley Donald of Manchester, Diane Thomas of N.C., Linda Sofinowski of Westminster, and Charles Sofinowski of N.C.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Sofinowski of Walkersville; sister, Emilie Taber of Kansas. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a son, Frank Sofinowski; grandson, Michael Sofinowski; and siblings, Natalie MacBlane, Olga Siewicki, Emil and Edwin Sofinowski.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 515 Academy Ave., Owings Mills, MD, with Rev. Harry M. Krolus officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.
