Ruth Faye “Sandy” Seitler, 84, of Littlestown, PA died peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster, MD. Born February 14, 1931 in Harrisonburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Beulah (Hillyard) Whitmer.
Ruth was a Licensed Practical Nurse Supervisor at the former Rosewood Center in Owings Mills for nearly 30 years. She attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Littlestown, PA. She was a member of the Westminster Moose Lodge and the Eagles Aerie in Littlestown, PA. Ruth enjoyed dancing, sharing good food with friends, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are sons, Norris Sandridge and wife Paula of Taneytown, and Bill Murphy and wife Sue of Westminster; sisters, Leona Layman of Broadway, VA, and Phoebe Knight of Waynesboro, VA; brother, Billy Whitmer and wife Juanita of FL; grandchildren, Michael Sandridge of Westminster, Christina Murphy of Hampstead, Melinda Benedict and husband Brad of Allentown, PA, Steven Murphy and wife Stephanie of Littlestown, PA, and Julia Murphy of Westminster; great-grandchildren, Logan, Jacob, Alex, and Kelsey; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will be private at Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
