Ruth Plunkert

Ruth Ann Plunkert, 79, of Westminster, MD, died peacefully on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.  Born September 30, 1941 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Albert Frederick and Anna Marie (Messina) Quatman.  She was the wife of the late James Allen Plunkert, Sr.  He passed in 1999.

Ruth was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.  She was a homemaker, who enjoyed her pet bird, doing word search puzzles, and keeping in touch with her family and friends.

Surviving are her children, James Allen Plunkert, Jr. and wife Mary of Westminster, Anita Ann Plunkert of Littlestown, PA, Steven Allen Plunkert of Hanover, PA, Brenda Ann Mendenhall of Walker, LA, and Sandra Ann Milter of Gettysburg, PA; siblings, Albert W. Quatman of Randallstown, MD; Marguerite Beil of Hanover, PA, and Frederick B. Quatman of St. Petersburg, FL; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD.  Burial will follow at Harmony Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Myersville, MD.  The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth’s name to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown, MD.
