Ruth Victoria (Guyer) Mellema

June 17, 1944 — September 3, 2013

Ruth Victoria Mellema, age 69, of Union Bridge, Maryland, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at her home.
Born June 17, 1944 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence S. Guyer, Sr. and Edna G. (Brenneman) Guyer.  She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde Clayton Mellema in 2012.
Ruth attended Waynesboro area schools and in her early life worked at local canning factories and a sod farm.  She worked for many years in housekeeping at Grace Brethren Home and in private homes.  She loved her dog Rusty, classic country music especially Charlie Pride, camping, flea market shopping, and collecting nick nacks.  She was a member of the Charlie Pride Fan Club.
Surviving are brothers, Charles L. Guyer of Waynesboro, PA, Roy L. Guyer of York, PA, Paul L. Guyer of NM; sister, Rosie M. Baer of Waynesboro, PA; and a number of nieces, nephews, and one uncle.
She was predeceased by brothers, Lawrence S. Guyer, Jr., Robert L. Guyer, and Ronald L. Guyer; and a sister, Viola L. Brown-Deshong.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster with the Rev. Richard L. Michael officiating.  Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
