Ruth Ellen Leppo, age 75, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center following an extended illness.
Born April 18, 1938 in Westminster, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Ruth Little Freyman. She was predeceased by her husband, Sam R. Leppo in 1999.
Ruth was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Ruth was a substitute teacher for many years at Westminster and Elmer Wolfe Elementary Schools. She was a member of the Westminster United Methodist Church and the Union Bridge Lions Club. She enjoyed being a recent resident of Westminster Ridge Senior Living Community. She was an avid NASCAR and Baltimore Ravens fan, and enjoyed shopping.
Surviving are daughter, Tammy Foster of Louisiana; son, Sam R. Leppo, II and wife Eleni of Westminster; brothers, Floyd Freyman and wife Cherry and Dale Freyman and wife Linda both of Westminster; grandchildren, David and Lauren Foster of Louisiana, Sam Leppo III, Maria and Abigail Leppo all of Westminster; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by siblings, Gilda Trish, Francis, Charles “Bud”, and Klarn Freyman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Westminster United Methodist Church with Rev. Shari McCourt officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in Union Bridge, Maryland. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.
