Ruth Ann Grieves, 74, of Finksburg, died peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born January 28, 1943 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Louis Edward Fischbach and the late Ruth E. (Starr) Mathias. She was the wife of the late James S.P. Grieves.
Ruth was a nurses’ aide at Springfield Hospital in Sykesville for 23 years. She enjoyed reading, needlepoint, playing BINGO, family getaways, and going to Charles Town with friends.
Surviving are daughter Heather Hooper and husband Ronnie of Finksburg; daughter-in-law, Loretta Grieves of Westminster; grandchildren, William Olyn Grieves III, Madalyn Olivia Grieves, and Ronald James “RJ” Hooper; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, W. Olyn Grieves II, and sister, Sharon Stanton.
A memorial service to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Carrollton Church of God, 1901 Carrollton Rd,, Finksburg, MD, 21048, with Pastor Dave Meador officiating. Inurnment will be private at a later date. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Friday.
Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Westminster. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carrollton Church of God at the above address, or to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD, 21157.
