Ruth Evelyn Buffington, age 87, of Westminster, formerly of California died on Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Dove House Carroll Hospice in Westminster, MD.
Born January 15, 1922 in Spartanburg, S.C., she was the daughter of the late John W. and Lillie B. (Carr) Long and step-daughter of the late Thelma Long. She was predeceased by her husband in 1978, Charles T. Buffington, Jr.
Surviving are children, Patricia “Sue” Fagan and former husband Gregory Fagan of Westminster, Barry W. Buffington and wife Diane of California; sister, Belle Barnes of Chesapeake, Virginia; grandchildren, Tara Denbaugh, Melissa Buffington, Seth Buffington, MacKabe Fagan and wife Karen, and Marissa Bingham and husband Farlan; great-grandchildren, Kyle Denbaugh, Taylor Denbaugh, and Tyler Bingham.
Predeceased by a son, Charles M. Buffington, a grandson, Kalen Fagan, and by siblings, John W. Long, Ansel Long, Joe Long, Lawrence Long, Elizabeth Haralson, and Louise Barry.
A Memorial service will be held at 8:00 PM, on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with John C. Morrill, funeral celebrant officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
