Russell Eugene “R.J.” Boone, Jr., age 27 of Pleasant Valley, died Tuesday October 27, 2009 at Carroll Hospital Center following a lifelong struggle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He was born January 10, 1982 in Westminster, the son of Russell E. and Nancy L. Thomas Boone of Westminster. He was a 2000 graduate of Westminster High School. Besides being a computer wiz he loved NASCAR, and Tony Stewart was his favorite driver. He was a fan of the Ravens, Washington Capitals Hockey, W.W.E. Wrestling and bowling with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He also collected TY babies.
He is survived by half brothers and sister, Brain E. Boone of Ohio, Russell Scott Boone of Westminster and Bobbie Jo Carhart of Finksburg; caregivers, Nurses of the Professional Nursing Services of Cockeysville, MD.
He was predeceased by grandparents, Robert C., Sr. and Betty B. Thomas and Roy L. and Dorothy Boone.
A funeral service will be held Friday 2:00 pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Rev. Jimmie L. Schwartz officiating. Interment will follow in John Luther Miller Memorial Cemetery in Westminster.
The family will receive friends Thursday 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Friday 1:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with medical and final expenses.
