Rufus A. Simons, age 89, formerly of Finksburg, died Wednesday October 19, 2011 at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester. He was born March 4, 1922 in Princeton, West Va., son of the late John and Princess Cornett Simons. He was the husband of the late Lena Dillow Simons. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He worked in orchards in Virginia as a nursery worker.
He is survived by daughters, Diana Bever, Frankie Noble and Freda Jones all of Hanover, PA; son, Rufus Wade Simons of Westminster; also survived by two sisters; grandchildren, Hope Simons, Randy Nash and Shannon Rill; great grandchildren, Airel Price and Jackson Simons.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Jason Simons.
Services and interment will be private.
